Bodywork & changework sessions

I offer bodywork and/or changework sessions in my Spartan trailer in the Manchaca area of Austin, Texas.

I offer morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend sessions of about two hours. These sessions combine massage/bodywork and changework as needed and desired.

While I complete my internship in massage school, there is no charge for the massage/bodywork, and you may pay what you wish for changework.

After I receive my massage license, probably in February, sessions will probably be $108 for two hours.

I also offer bodywork-only sessions for $1 per minute, from 15 to 90 minutes long.

I’ll do an intake on your first visit and watch you move, and we’ll talk about what’s happening in your life. What stresses you? May I offer you an affirmation at the end of your session? Is there anything else you’d like to work on — relationship or emotional issues?

We can decide how to spend our two hours together each time you visit.

The two-hour sessions include 60-90 minutes of bodywork. If you desire two hours of changework or two hours of bodywork, we can do that.

Note: I also offer massage on call for alternative health clinics and individuals who have a massage table in their homes.

Please email (mareynolds27 @ gmail.com), phone, or text me (512 507 4184) to let me know of your interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of bodywork do you offer?

I currently offer Swedish massage and deep massage (Lauterstein method for energy and structural ease). I mix them intuitively based on your needs and preferences, and I also incorporate acupressure points, body mobilization techniques, stretches and ranges-of-motion, and some cranio-sacral therapy. I may include some reiki before starting.

I will add more modalities as I continue my training.

My intent is to deliver more well-being and freedom to you.

What do you mean by changework?

Changework refers to tools and techniques that give you more resources for managing your life. I consider the changework I offer to consist of active attentive listening, asking key questions, and offering tools and techniques that work.

If you like personal growth, you’ll like changework.

I want to make clear that I am not a therapist, counselor, or coach. We work together on one issue at a time. If what we do together isn’t working, I want you to work with someone else.

I’ve completed NLP master practitioner training, served as an NLP training assistant/coach, and have learned skills and techniques to help you achieve your well-formed outcomes and find new approaches when you’ve reached your limit.

I’ve studied and practiced the Emotional Freedom Technique and teach it as well. The version I teach (TAP — Tap Away Pain) came from Dene Binnie-Ballantine, who studied with EFT originator Gary Craig. EFT/TAP helps when you want to decrease the intensity of unpleasant emotions.

I love The Work of Byron Katie and use her questions in my own life. The Work starts with your unpleasant emotions but is a more cognitive approach that through inquiry, shifts beliefs and identity toward more ease, lightness, and compassion, and also shifts those feelings.

I have a few other tools to offer if the need arises.

Why are you using this business model instead of the conventional model for massage?

Several of my student massage clients have enjoyed and benefitted from sessions that included both bodywork and changework, so I am offering this combination to paying clients.

I enjoy knowing and assisting clients as whole human beings.

Bodywork usually creates a softening state of deep relaxation in mind and body. It’s like having your armor removed. This state is ideal for reprogramming the unconscious mind (only after we agree on what you want to reprogram, of course) to develop healthy, embodied, lasting changes. This is an area of growth and experimentation for me. If it excites you too, come see me!

Why two-hour sessions?

I like spending at least a couple of hours with clients so I can get to know you better and not have to rush through a massage and leave out the belly or spend less time on the feet in order to end on time. Two hour sessions allow us time to do an intake or catch up since our last session and incorporate changework into your bodywork session if desired (or bodywork into your changework session). When we finish, you won’t have to rush away, undoing the relaxation we just created.

Why $108?

108 is a sacred number in Eastern spiritual traditions. The numbers 1, 0, and 8 represent oneness, emptiness, and infinity. Thus 108 represents the ultimate truth of reality, or God.

I felt drawn to that number for the price of a session to convey that this work is my calling and not just a job. I prayed for a right livelihood that I would love so much, I’d do it even if I didn’t get paid, although earning a living from it is necessary. This work is what my prayers, intent, learning, and Spirit have manifested.

$108 per two-hour session is a sustainable amount of money for me to live on and continue to offer this.

$108 is also competitive for a two-hour session in today’s bodywork and changework marketplaces.
